Odisha Revenue Officials’ Association Threatens Indefinite Work Boycott Over Pay and Promotion Demands

Malkangiri, : The Odisha Revenue Officials’ Association has announced that if their long-standing demands are not fulfilled, they will launch an indefinite work boycott starting July 14. This decision was taken in a recent executive committee meeting of the state body.

In Malkangiri, under the leadership of District President C.H.P. Krishna Rao, the district unit of the Association submitted a 10-point charter of demands to the state government through Additional District Magistrate (General) Somanath Pradhan.

The officials alleged that despite years of service and persistent demands, the state government continues to show a stepmotherly attitude toward revenue officials at the district level. This has caused growing resentment among the workforce.

Major Demands Include:

1. Upgrading the base salary (Level-9) of district-level revenue officials as per the 2017 rules.

2. Creation and restructuring of posts based on data already submitted by Collectors to the General Administration and Grievance Redressal Department via Letter No. ΓΓΩΓ, dated 15.03.2024.

3. Implementation of health insurance coverage up to ₹20 lakhs annually for all government employees.

4. Abolishment of the amended 2020 rehabilitation policy and reimplementation of the 1990 policy, allowing compassionate appointment of a qualified family member of a deceased government employee.

5. Scrapping of the New Pension Scheme (NPS) and inclusion of all employees under the Old Pension Scheme.

The Association noted that despite multiple rounds of discussions with the state government through different channels and forums, no concrete action has been taken yet.

In this context, they announced that if their demands are not met within the next 15 days, they will wear black badges from July 7 to July 11 as a symbolic protest.

If the government still fails to act, they will go ahead with the indefinite work boycott from July 14, as per the decision taken in the state executive committee meeting.

The announcement was jointly made by District President C.H.P. Krishna Rao and Secretary Dillip Kumar Nayak. Other key attendees included Tukuna Padhiari, Janardhan Hantal, Dibyasingh Paikaray, Bir Prasad Pattnaik, Pradeep Kumar Mishra, Kuna Nayak, K. Dillip Kumar, Nirmala Nayak, and Samita Singh.
