Bhubaneswar,May 29: Under the chairmanship of Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the State Cabinet has approved the proposal for the “Odisha Repealing Bill, 2026.”
Through this landmark initiative, as many as 358 obsolete and outdated laws enacted between 1974 and 2025 will be repealed. The move is aimed at simplifying the government’s administrative and legal framework, making governance more transparent, efficient, and citizen-friendly.
The repeal of these redundant laws is expected to reduce procedural complexities, eliminate legal ambiguities, and improve ease of administration across various departments. It will also help remove confusion among the general public regarding outdated provisions that are no longer relevant in the present-day governance system.
This progressive reform reflects the Odisha Government’s commitment to modernizing the legal structure, strengthening good governance, and ensuring smoother delivery of public services for the people of the state.
