For years, there had been a demand for establishing a blood bank in Umarkote to address the need for blood supply. During the event, the importance of regular blood donation to meet the demand was emphasized.

The Umarkote Sub-Divisional Hospital caters to approximately 10 lakh people, including four blocks—Umarkote, Jharigaon, Raighar, Chandahandi, and Dabugaon—and the border areas of Chhattisgarh. This new blood bank will significantly benefit the population relying on this healthcare facility.

Currently, the blood bank has nine employees, including the blood bank officer. It has the capacity to store 300 units of blood. Constructed with an expenditure of ₹17 lakhs, the facility is equipped with three blood storage units, two blood collection monitors, a laminar hot air oven, an incubator, an ELISA reader, an ELISA washer, and donor couches.
