Bhubaneswar, Oct 5 [UDN}:New opportunities are emerging in Odisha for increasing marine fish production and strengthening the livelihoods of fishermen. Through the Deep-Sea Fishing Mission, modern fishing techniques, advanced equipment and improved facilities are being developed, enabling fishermen to venture into deeper waters, catch a wider variety of fish species and access larger markets.
The growth of the marine fisheries sector is not only creating opportunities to increase fishermen’s income but is also contributing to the strengthening of Odisha’s overall fisheries economy. The Paradip Fishing Harbour is playing an important role in supporting this development by providing improved infrastructure and facilities for fishing and allied activities.
The expansion and modernisation of deep-sea fishing is expected to further enhance Odisha’s marine fisheries potential, improve market access and create new livelihood opportunities for fishing communities.
