Naveen Patnaik Raises Concerns Over Delimitation Bill, Urges Protection of Odisha’s Political Rights

Bhubaneswar, April 16(BNP): Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed strong concerns over the proposed Delimitation Bill, urging that Odisha’s political rights and representation must remain intact.

In a formal letter addressed to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday, Patnaik cautioned that any reduction in the state’s political representation would undermine the aspirations and interests of the people of Odisha.

He stressed the need for a comprehensive and transparent discussion on the issue, given its far-reaching implications on federal balance and democratic representation.

Patnaik also called for convening a special session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly to deliberate on the matter, enabling all stakeholders to voice their concerns and arrive at a collective stance.

The development has intensified the political discourse in the state, with the delimitation issue expected to be a key subject of debate in the coming days.
