Nabarangpur The municipality organized a celebration of International Women’s Day at the local municipal premises. The event was attended by Municipal Chairperson Kunu Nayak as the chief guest, while lawyer Kisheri Pattnayak was the keynote speaker. Executive Officer Samaresh Mohanty participated as a distinguished guest.
Every year, March 8 is observed as International Women’s Day to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions and achievements of women in social, economic, cultural, political, and other fields. Executive Officer Mohanty emphasized that the day aims to promote women’s rights and create awareness about gender equality and opportunities. He highlighted that today’s women are progressing in all areas, proving their capabilities.
Speaking at the event, Municipal Chairperson Nayak stated that women are a symbol of strength, compassion, and perseverance. They represent ideals, love, and resilience, embodying patience, kindness, and immense power. On this International Women’s Day, she encouraged everyone to recognize and honor the unique strength of women and celebrate their contributions to society.
She further stressed that gender equality is essential for the entire society, not just for women. Women today are actively fighting against injustice and oppression in various fields, demonstrating their capabilities in space exploration, sports, and science.
Keynote speaker Pattnayak emphasized the importance of further empowering women and raising awareness about their advancement. He pointed out that various government initiatives are being implemented to promote women’s self-reliance in political, economic, and social spheres.
Other notable attendees included Councillors E. Satish, Amit Pradhan, Samesh Khar, Santoshi Kani, Geetanjali Yadav, Mamata Maharana, Bhusha Rani, Rajeshwari, Tam Harijan, and Ranjita Panda. The event was moderated by Jyoti Parichha, with support from Ram Shankar Das, Tuna Das, and Sanu Praharaj.
