Nabarangpur Endures Three Straight Days of Heavy Rainfall

Nabarangpur: Nabarangpur has been witnessing non-stop rainfall for the past three days, severely disrupting daily life. Waterlogging has been reported in several areas, preventing people from stepping out of their homes for work. In addition, trees have been uprooted and fallen onto roads, blocking traffic. Water has entered school buildings, halting classroom activities in parts of the district.

Fire department personnel have been actively working to clear the roads by cutting down the fallen trees.

Waterlogged School in Tentulikhunti

In Tentulikhunti block of Nabarangpur, rainfall has been continuous for two days. As a result, the Government Upper Primary School in Khatiguda has become waterlogged. Due to the lack of proper drainage, water has accumulated inside the school. Roof leakage has led to water entering most classrooms. On Tuesday, students of Class 3 were made to sit in Class 2’s room. Classes for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades had to be completely suspended.

The headmistress has reported the school’s condition to the higher authorities. After receiving the complaint, Tentulikhunti BDO Manoj Panigrahi stated that “Pen-down” protest is currently ongoing. The Assistant Engineer and Junior Engineer have been directed to assess the school’s condition and take necessary actions.

Tree Blocks Highway for 1.5 Hours

In Taragaon, near Nabarangpur block, on National Highway-26, a massive mango tree was uprooted and fell across the road due to the continuous rain, completely blocking traffic. Upon receiving the information, fire services personnel rushed to the spot and removed the tree, clearing the road and restoring traffic.

The incident occurred around 5:30 PM, and the road was fully reopened by 7:00 PM after the operation.
