Nabarangpur District Sends Senior Citizens on Pilgrimage for Spiritual Journey

Nabarangpur,  On date 17.02.2025:  at 4:30 PM, a group of 130 senior citizens from Nabarangpur district embarked on a pilgrimage to Kolkata and Kamakhya from the local Mission Shakti premises. The pilgrimage was flagged off by the Honorable MLA, Manohar Randhari of Dabugaon, who extended his best wishes to the pilgrims.

Among the distinguished guests present were Additional District Magistrate Bishwajit Barman, Chief Development Officer of the District Council Biranchi Narayan Darwan, and other officials. The guests honored the pilgrims by presenting them with tokens of appreciation.

As part of the Senior Citizen Pilgrimage Scheme, the registered senior citizens from various blocks underwent health check-ups in the morning to ensure their fitness for travel. Four buses transported the pilgrims towards Rayagada today. Tomorrow, they will continue their journey from Rayagada railway station to their destination.

The pilgrims are expected to return on February 23. To ensure their well-being and comfort during the journey, five nodal officers, including Physical Education Teachers (PETs), have been appointed.

The send-off ceremony was attended and coordinated by District Social Welfare Officer Sudhanshu Patra, In-Charge District Tourism Officer Ghasia Harijan, and District Information & Public Relations Officer Manoj Kumar Behera.
