Modern Hospital to Be Established in Dhosuri Area of Dhamnagar to Strengthen Healthcare Infrastructure and Public Medical Services

Dhosuri, May 25: The Dhosuri Area Hospital under Dhamnagar block in Bhadrak district is set to undergo a major transformation soon. With funding from the National Health Mission (NHM), a new state-of-the-art hospital building will be constructed here, providing improved healthcare facilities to people of the region. NHM has approved financial assistance of ₹3 crore for this major project.

After completion of the tender process, the foundation stone for the building was laid by Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj. On Tuesday, the formal layout and site planning process for the construction work was carried out. The master planning and layout process was completed smoothly at the identified site near the Dhosuri bus stand in the presence of NHM executive engineers, the concerned contractor, Dhosuri Sarpanch Antaryami Pati, senior social worker and leader Chaturbhuja Nayak, and several local intellectuals.

Located beside the Bhadrak–Akhandalamani State Highway No. 35, the Dhosuri Area Hospital serves as a crucial healthcare center for people from nearly 15 to 20 panchayats, including residents of Dhamnagar, Aradi, Tihidi, Chandbali, and even neighboring areas of Jajpur district. The hospital is also the primary emergency treatment center for accident victims on the busy Bhadrak–Akhandalamani road.

After the Dhamnagar Community Health Centre, this hospital is the only government healthcare institution in the area mandated to provide 24-hour medical services. Despite its geographical and administrative importance, the hospital had been facing several challenges over the years that hindered patient care.

Major issues included severe shortage of space compared to the number of patients, old infrastructure, lack of adequate doctors and paramedical staff, and absence of modern laboratories and advanced medical equipment. Local residents had long been demanding the upgradation of the hospital from Dhamnagar MLA and current Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj.
Out of the ₹3 crore sanctioned by NHM, work worth ₹2.40 crore will be executed under the primary tender arrangement, and all preparations for the project have been finalized. According to the prepared DPR (Detailed Project Report), the new modern building will include separate and fully equipped wards for male and female patients, along with laboratories and emergency treatment units.

Due to the proactive efforts and vision of Minister Suryabanshi Suraj, a major improvement in healthcare services is expected in the Dhosuri region. Local intellectuals and residents have expressed deep gratitude to the minister for this initiative.
