Chhatrapur: A Panchayat Samiti meeting was held at the Block Office Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Kirani Kumari Das. The meeting was attended by MLA Krishna Chandra Nayak, Vice-Chairperson S. Sharada Renghi, BDO Achyutananda Jani, ABDO Jayashree Nayak, and Panchayat Officer Banita Senapati.
The MLA advised that development work should be carried out collectively at both the block and panchayat levels. However, despite prior notification of the meeting, officials from the Rural Development, Animal Resources, Irrigation, and Works departments were absent. Frustrated by their absence, the MLA instructed the BDO to issue show-cause notices to the missing officials.
Discussions were held on the implementation of the Bikashit Gaon, Bikashit Odisha (Developed Villages, Developed Odisha) scheme, with the MLA emphasizing its effective execution. Concerns were also raised about delayed procurement of paddy, as millers were not arriving on time, causing farmers’ tokens to expire. The MLA urged the Supply Department to ensure smooth procurement.
The discussion also touched upon making Chhatrapur Block the No.1 in the country. When questioned about water supply from the Mega Drinking Water Project before the summer season, officials assured that it would commence in July.
Some Panchayat representatives raised concerns about the lack of uniforms for schoolchildren. The BDO clarified that the delay in providing uniforms was due to a delay in receiving financial grants.
The meeting also covered health, Panchayati Raj, and other departments. Panchayat representatives discussed the fact that the meeting was being held after six months and raised concerns about the absence of a permanent BDO.
