Minister Meets Families of Martyrs, Assures Support and Solidarity

Nabarangpur:April. 28:  School & Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond and Nabarangpur MLA Gourishankar Majhi attended various project inauguration programs in Nandahandi block of Nabarangpur district.
A program for the installation of statues of martyrs was also organized within the block premises. On this occasion, family members of the martyrs met the Minister and submitted a written request. They demanded that statues and memorial pillars be स्थापित in the respective villages of the martyrs to preserve their memory. They also requested that all eligible government benefits, including housing schemes, be extended to the families of the martyrs.
The MLA assured that due importance would be given to these demands.
It is noteworthy that in 1942, during the freedom struggle, 19 people were martyred in a गोलीकांड (firing incident) at Papadahandi, out of which 11 were from Nandahandi block. The families also requested that statues of these martyrs be installed at the Papadahandi Martyrs’ Memorial.
Family members including Bhimasen Pujari, Lalit Randhari, Gupta Gouda, Sanyasi Bhatra, Trinath Amanatya, Jagabandhu Jani, Bidya Jani, Guru Amanatya, Krishna Saura, Sambaru Jani, Uma Jani, and others were present and met the Minister.
