Bhubaneswar, Apr 14 (BNP): The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has nominated Manas Ranjan Mangaraj as the new leader of its Parliamentary Party in the Rajya Sabha.
The development follows the resignation of Sasmit Patra, who stepped down from the post after informing BJD president and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The party formally communicated Mangaraj’s appointment to the Rajya Sabha on Monday (April 13, 2026). A senior leader within the BJD, Mangaraj is expected to play a pivotal role in steering the party’s legislative strategy, strengthening coordination among members, and effectively presenting its position on key national issues in the Upper House.
The leadership change is seen as part of the BJD’s ongoing efforts to reinforce its parliamentary functioning and maintain a strong, cohesive presence at the national level.
