Letter Sent to Secretary for Filling BEO and ABEO Vacancies in Nandapur District

Nandapur:April 16:  The office of the District Education Officer in Koraput district has requested the authorities to fill the shortage of officers in the education department.
In response to a complaint registered on the state public grievance portal, the District Education Office, through letter No. 1973/ESTT-Vacancy, informed that out of the 14 sanctioned posts of Block Education Officers (BEOs), 8 posts are vacant, and out of 42 Assistant Block Education Officer (ABEO) posts, 25 are lying vacant. A request has been made to the Secretary and Additional Secretary of the School and Mass Education Department to fill these vacancies immediately.
According to reports, news about the shortage of BEOs and ABEOs across the district’s 14 blocks had earlier been published and later registered on the grievance portal. Following this, instructions were issued to the District Collector and the District Education Officer to verify the facts and submit a report on the actual situation.
District Education Officer Karunakar Bhuye submitted the report through the District Collector to the grievance portal, as well as to the State Education Secretary and Additional Secretary.
In the report, a request has been made to take immediate steps to fill the vacant 8 BEO and 25 ABEO posts to strengthen the education system in the district.
After the report became public, educationists, intellectuals, and opposition leaders have raised concerns over the shortage of officers, teachers, and educational infrastructure in the undivided Koraput region. They have urged the education department and Minister Nityananda Gond to take necessary action.
