Lawyers Exempted from Wearing Black Coats from April 1 to June 30

Cuttack: Except for the High Court and Supreme Court, lawyers in other courts will not be required to wear the black coat or advocate’s gown during the summer months this year.

From April 1 to June 30, lawyers can argue cases without wearing a black coat or gown in court. However, they must wear a white shirt along with black, white-striped, or grey pants, a tie, a band, and a collar.

Considering the extreme summer heat, the Bar Council of India had earlier decided to relax the mandatory dress code for a few months. Following this decision, the Odisha State Bar Council has approved the proposal for implementation, as informed by Council member Akshaya Kumar Pat
