Kharif Policy Planning Committee Meeting Held in Nabarangpur

Nabarangpur: A meeting of the Kharif Policy Planning Committee for the current Kharif season in Nabarangpur district was held today at the local Mission Shakti Conference Hall under the chairmanship of District Collector Dr. Shubankar Mahapatra.

During the meeting, Sudhiranjan Behera, Chief District Agriculture Officer, highlighted the various schemes and targets set by the Agriculture Department for the Kharif season. Among the key schemes discussed were:

Shree Anna Abhiyan,

Mukhyamantri Maka Mission (Chief Minister’s Maize Mission),

Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (Crop Insurance),

Farmer Registry,

Aromatic Paddy Cultivation,

Agricultural Mechanization,

Soil Health Card, and

Natural Farming.

As per the Collector’s directives, instructions were issued to LAMPS (Large Area Multi-Purpose Cooperative Societies) to ensure proper fertilizer management and timely distribution of required quantities to all farmers.

The Block Agriculture Officers were strictly instructed to monitor and regulate the supply of fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides within the district.

Under the Shree Anna Abhiyan, the Collector emphasized providing high-yield millet varieties to farmers in order to strengthen their economic condition.

He also directed NGOs and Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) working under various schemes to operate effectively and fulfill their responsibilities. A 100% target for soil testing in the district was also set during the meeting.

In addition, discussions were held on various Kharif programs under the Horticulture Department, Soil Conservation, and Watershed Development Departments.

The meeting was attended by the Chief District Development Officer, District Council officials, Deputy Director of Horticulture, Director of Soil Conservation Project, DRCES, MARKFED, senior scientists from the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Agriculture District Officers from Nabarangpur and Papadahandi, and all block-level officers of the Agriculture Department.
