Maidalpur: This afternoon, due to the impact of a nor’wester (Kalbaishakhi) in Nabarangpur district, asbestos roofs were blown away in several places, while widespread crop damage has also been reported. In Pitariguda village of Nuakata panchayat under Papadahandi block, the houses of Subash Chandra Bishoyi, Tike Bishoyi, and others were damaged as their asbestos roofs were blown away.

Tin sheets had flown away. Subash’s plastic water tank flew about 200 meters due to the strong wind. A teak tree near the village was split into two after being struck by lightning. Similarly, 5 acres of maize crop of Dharmendra Bishoyi, 3 acres of maize and 1 acre of sunflower of Sudhanshu Sekhar Bishoyi, 1 acre of maize of Bijay Bishoyi, 2 acres of maize of Mahendra Bishoyi, 1 acre of sunflower each of Ana Bishoyi and Digambar Bishoyi, were all destroyed.
Jharigaon: In various places of Jharigaon block, trees were uprooted and asbestos roofs were blown away. In Jamaguda village under Gurusinga panchayat, the asbestos roofs of the houses of Sonu Jani, Debaraj Kata, and Kumarsingh Gauda were blown away.
Free polythene sheets are being distributed to the affected people and arrangements are being made for their temporary shelter. Similarly, in Kalegaon of Kutrichhapar panchayat, the asbestos roofs of Ganesh Harijan, Gurubaru Harijan, Subash Harijan, and Gangadhar Sabar’s houses were blown away and destroyed. The Revenue Department has announced that assistance will be provided on Wednesday. Due to the strong winds, a tree fell on the Doliamba road, affecting traffic movement.
