Jeypore: To reduce road accidents, a youth from Jeypore, Shishir Mallika, has developed a life-saving device that has attracted significant attention. The device includes three key features primarily aimed at protecting drivers from accidents.
During foggy or rainy conditions, the device uses a flashlight to alert the driver and increase visibility. It also has a QR code that provides complete information about the driver and their family. Moreover, it helps in directing traffic fines collected from the driver directly to the Red Cross, where they can be used for noble causes.
Shishir states that the device will be available in the market priced between ₹150 and ₹250.
Fog and rain often reduce the visibility of stationary vehicles on roads, leading to accidents. This new device, with its flashing light, can help mitigate such problems by making the vehicle visible to others.
In case of an accident, local people can scan the QR code to immediately inform the police and the family of the victim and assist in sending them to the hospital. Additionally, any traffic fines collected from the driver can go directly to the Red Cross, enabling accident victims to benefit from those funds.
The device also alerts drivers when someone is using a mobile phone while riding a bike. It sends a signal to drivers of vehicles approaching from behind, warning them to be cautious with a loud beep.
To tackle road accidents, Shishir from Bhupati Sahi in Jeypore has designed this compact life-saving device with the help of his friends. The components used in the device are mostly collected from damaged or discarded electronic items, keeping the cost low. He presented the device at an International Science Festival held in Bhopal.
Shishir is in talks with a company to launch the device commercially. It is equipped with a chip, a three-volt battery, and is waterproof. According to Shishir, who currently works as a Safety Officer at NMDC in Jagdalpur, the use of this device will not only reduce road accidents but also help save lives.
