Chhatrapur: International Wheelchair Day was celebrated at the Manasika Anagrasara C Pakshaghat Samartha O Mastiska Aabasika Vidyalaya in Met Emiyapalli village. The event was organized jointly by the Ganjam District Physical Disability Welfare Association and the district administration.
The program was presided over by the General Secretary of the association, Dr. K. Anand Rao. The chief guest, Dr. Ajay Kumar Tripathi, Principal of Chhatrapur Government Science College, emphasized that wheelchairs play a crucial role in empowering persons with disabilities and giving them hope for a better life.
The keynote speaker, District Social Security Officer Krishna Chandra Behera, provided insights into various government schemes available for persons with disabilities. Another distinguished guest, senior teacher Shankar Mohanty from the residential school, highlighted the challenges faced by persons with disabilities.
As part of the event, winners of previously held competitions, including wheelchair races, painting, and music contests, were awarded. Additionally, eight individuals with disabilities were provided with wheelchairs. All competitions were coordinated by senior teacher Shankar Mohanty.
