Intense Heat and Sultry Weather Conditions to Continue for Next Five Days, Says India Meteorological Department Chief Mrutyunjay Mohapatra Amid Rising Public Health Concerns

Bhubaneswar, May 25:  IMD Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra informed about the intense heat and humid conditions prevailing in the state. He said that heatwave conditions will continue in the state for the next five days. According to him, even if the actual temperature remains around 40°C, the humidity will make it feel like 45°C.

He further stated that coastal districts will experience higher discomfort and a stronger heat sensation due to increased humidity levels. The IMD DG also mentioned that such conditions are not new, as the state has experienced similar heat in the past.

At the same time, El Niño has not yet been officially declared anywhere at present, Mrutyunjay Mohapatra said. He added that El Niño generally becomes active with the arrival of the monsoon. However, no prediction has yet been made regarding when the monsoon will reach Odisha.
