Bhubaneswar, July 6 (UDN): In a significant boost to Odisha’s railway network, Indian Railways has launched the new Puri–Koraput Express, providing a direct rail link between the state’s renowned pilgrimage destination, Puri, and the tribal heartland of Koraput.
The inaugural service will be flagged off by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw from Bhubaneswar Railway Station on Monday. The new train is expected to enhance regional connectivity, improve travel convenience, and support economic, social, and tourism activities across several districts of the state.
The Puri–Koraput Express has been introduced to offer passengers a more seamless travel experience while strengthening access between coastal and southern Odisha. The service is expected to benefit pilgrims, students, tourists, traders, and local residents by reducing travel challenges and improving mobility.
Operating through key stations across Odisha, the train will provide an important transportation link for communities along its route, fostering greater regional integration and supporting the state’s ongoing infrastructure development.
