Kotpad Due to rain caused by a low-pressure system, the roads, lanes, and paths of Ward No. 1 in Bedhaguda of Sadaranga Panchayat, Kotpad town, have been submerged for the past three days. Water has risen to knee-level in almost all areas. Villagers are facing severe difficulty in commuting. The situation is particularly challenging for small children, the elderly, and school-going students.
Because of stagnant water, the village is at increased risk of disease outbreaks, according to the residents. There is also fear of reptiles appearing in the area. Women are facing hardship collecting drinking water from hand pumps located along waterlogged roads. The villagers said that whenever there is low-pressure rainfall, around 50 families in Bedhaguda get trapped in this waterlogging.
The root of the problem lies in the lack of proper drainage in the village. Despite repeatedly informing the administration over the past three years, villagers claim that the authorities have remained silent and inactive on the issue.
