Bhubaneswar: The state government is committed to improving healthcare infrastructure and medical education. As part of this initiative, plans are underway to establish nine new medical colleges in Odisha. Last year, over 4,000 doctors and paramedical staff were recruited, and this year, the government aims to recruit more than 5,000 such personnel, said Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling.
On Tuesday, the first edition of the CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) Healthcare Conclave was held, themed “Integrating Innovation, Wellness, and Care.”
In the event, Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling, CII Odisha State Council Chairman Sunil Gupta, and other dignitaries were present. The discussions highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships in healthcare development.
Dr. Alok Srivastava, Convener of the CII Odisha Healthcare Committee and CEO of Apollo Hospitals, Bhubaneswar, emphasized Odisha’s potential in medical device manufacturing, the importance of innovation, and the prospects for medical tourism.
The conclave also hosted four thematic sessions focused on strengthening participation, innovation, and investment in Odisha’s evolving healthcare sector. G. Suresh, Executive Director of AM/SS India, delivered the vote of thanks.
In his address, the Health Minister announced that the government will work to fill 1.5 lakh vacant government posts in the next five years. CII Odisha Chairman and CEO of Vedanta Ltd., Jharsuguda, Sunil Gupta, also highlighted Odisha’s increasing contribution to the national healthcare sector and its potential for future growth.
