Bhubaneswar: Giving priority to students’ nutrition, the cost of the midday meal has once again been increased by the State Government. An increment of Rs2.92 has been made in the midday meal cost.
With this revised rate:
For primary school students, the daily meal cost per child will now be Rs11.15
For upper primary students, it will be Rs 14.74
Out of this, Rs 7.74 will be allocated for cooking materials.
This revised cost will be effective retrospectively from May 1. The School and Mass Education Department has issued a notification regarding this today.
According to the notification, in order to enhance student nutrition, from the 2025–26 academic year, the State Government will also provide:
Three nutritious laddus per week
One additional egg
These added nutritious items aim to further improve the daily dietary intake of students in both primary and upper primary schools.
