Ganga Water Stays Pure Despite 58 Crore Devotees Taking a Dip: Dr. Ajay Kumar Sonkar

Prayagraj: So far, more than 58 crore devotees have taken a holy dip in the Maha Kumbh Mela, yet the purity of the Ganga water remains unaffected. This has been scientifically proven by Padma Shri awardee Dr. Ajay Kumar Sonkar in his laboratory. According to him, Ganga water is not just fit for bathing but is also as pure as alkaline water. He has debunked claims questioning the water’s purity through his experiments.

Scientific Examination of Ganga Water

Dr. Sonkar has challenged skeptics to test Ganga water in the laboratory themselves if they have any doubts. He personally collected water samples from five major ghats, including Sangam and Arail, and conducted tests in his laboratory. After a continuous three-month study, he proved that Ganga water remains the purest. He confirmed that bathing in it causes no harm, as laboratory tests clearly showed its purity.

According to him, despite millions of devotees bathing in the river, no harmful bacteria were found, and the pH level of the water did not drop.

Ganga Water’s Self-Purification Ability

Dr. Sonkar’s study found that Ganga water contains 1,100 types of beneficial bacteriophages, which eliminate harmful bacteria. This is why, even after 58 crore devotees bathed in the river, it has not become polluted.

He also dismissed misleading reports that suggested Ganga water is unsuitable for drinking or bathing. Through his research, he has completely debunked these claims.

According to Dr. Sonkar, Ganga water has excellent alkalinity and does not develop foul odor or microbial growth. Lab tests on water samples from different ghats showed a pH level between 8.4 and 8.6, which is considered very good.
