Lamarakot: The Bisuva Milan Utsav was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Kalyan Mandap in Dargaguda, organized by Umarkote Fakir Mohan Pathashala. The occasion marked the observance of Maha Bishuba Sankranti, Shri Shri Hanuman Jayanti, and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti.
Senior speaker Manorama Mahapatra from Bhaighara attended the event as the chief guest. Renowned guests included Shrinibas Pattanasthala and Kantra Surendranath Dash, who shed light on the contribution of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in shaping the Indian Constitution. The session began with a welcome song performed by Purnachandra Sethi, and the welcome address was delivered by Tebendra Prasad Nayak.
The educational initiative under Sri Ramakrishna Mission’s Gadadhar Project also participated in the event.
Prafulla Kumar Bharata chaired the meeting. The chief speaker, Pranta Sahitya Academy member Dara Raut, elaborated on the significance of Maha Bishuba Sankranti.
Under the guidance of Ramendranath Biswas, students performed a classical Odissi dance. Tapan Pal discussed the importance of celebrating the Odia New Year.
Poets from Raighar, Chandahandi, Jharigaon, Bhramarakot, and Halugaon blocks participated and recited poems dedicated to Maha Bishuba Sankranti and the Odia New Year.
Eminent personalities like Suresh Kumar Acharya, Rajkishore Nayak, Harihara Satapathy, Sagar Kumar Parida, Shabhilata Mohanty, Prakash Chandra Behera, Shrinibas Padhi, Babu Chhota Ray, and Bandana Patra contributed actively in various roles to make the event a success.
