“Everyone Must Take a Pledge to Make Odisha Prosperous,” Says Chief Minister

Bhubaneswar, 27th Sept 2025:  On the occasion of Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 Campaign and the 110th Birth Anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi participated in a mass cleaning program organized near the Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar today. Along with the Chief Minister, Ministers, MLAs, the Mayor, local citizens, and students took part in the cleanliness drive.

As part of the campaign, the Chief Minister also planted a tree near the sacred Devipadahara pond, under the “One Day, One Hour of Service” program. The event was organized by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).

The Chief Minister paid floral tributes to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay and, in his address, remarked:

  • > “Today is not just another day — it’s an opportunity to remember one of our nation’s greatest thinkers, patriots, and idealistic leaders. We must present his values and principles to the coming generations.”
  • He emphasized that Deendayal Upadhyay played a pivotal role in integrating Indian cultural philosophy with an independent economic ideology. A strong believer in Integral Humanism, Deendayal advocated for Antyodaya — the idea that development should reach the last person in society.
  • Referring to the past, the CM mentioned that former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had laid the foundation of good governance in line with Deendayal’s ideals. In present times, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the most prominent follower of Deendayal’s thoughts, as reflected in every program and policy aimed at uplifting the poorest and most marginalized.

The Chief Minister further stated:

  • > “Guided by Deendayalji’s philosophy of Antyodaya, we are working tirelessly to deliver basic facilities to the people at the last mile of society.”

He continued:

  • > “Today, for one day, for one hour, all of us have gathered here with a purpose. It’s a moment to take a pledge for a prosperous and new Odisha. We must create greater awareness around cleanliness and sustainability.”

Future Goals and Vision:

  • Odisha must aim to be among the top three states in cleanliness in the country.
  • Plans are underway to generate energy from waste, including coal.
  • With the enthusiasm, interest, and cooperation of the citizens, the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0” campaign is progressing steadily toward its goal.
  • Odisha is proudly maintaining its distinct identity in nationwide plantation drives.
