Jharsuguda April. 30:: Cow Samman Diwas was observed as part of a nationwide campaign aimed at promoting respect and protection for cows. Participants emphasized that the cow is closely linked with faith, identity, and cultural pride, and that protecting cows is akin to protecting the nation.
As part of the campaign, saints, cow devotees, and volunteers gathered at various तहसील and district headquarters across the country. Through Tehsildars and District Collectors, memorandums were submitted to the President, Prime Minister, Governors, and Chief Ministers highlighting key demands.
The demands included:
A complete ban on cow slaughter in India
Declaring the cow as the “National Mother”
Enhanced protection and support for gaushalas
Strict laws against cattle smuggling
Encouragement and support for cattle rearing and farmers
In Jharsuguda district, volunteers across all five tehsils submitted memorandums to the Tehsildar and District Collector. Under the leadership of volunteer Durga Pradhan, a memorandum was submitted to Additional Tehsildar Kulamani Dalai.
Several individuals, including Baban Singh, Pitambar Mishra, Tiket Sahu, Uttam Negi, Gunasagar Majhi, Mitrabhanu Kisan, Amulya Hati, Sushant Khamari, Muralidhar Behera, Rajkumar Sahu, and Binod Kumar Bhagat, actively participated in the campaign.
