Counselling Initiative Helps Children in Care Homes Become Self-Reliant in Nabarangpur

Nabarangpur: April,16:  A one-day workshop on skill development and career counselling was organized by the District Child Protection Unit in Nabarangpur district for children residing in child care institutions and beneficiaries under the Mission Vatsalya.
The program was held at the Mission Shakti Conference Hall, with participation from children of all six child care homes in the district.
District Collector Maheswar Swain inaugurated the workshop and emphasized the importance of personality development, correct career selection, and preparing oneself for a competitive world. He stated that skill-based education helps children become self-reliant and strengthens their future. Through such counselling and training, children can choose the right path based on their interests and abilities.
The District Child Protection Officer explained the objectives of the workshop. Representatives from Polytechnic College, ITI, SIHM Bolangir, Nursing College, and various district-level officials attended and provided guidance on courses, vocational education, and employment opportunities.
Members of the Child Welfare Committee, superintendents of child care institutions (CCIs), counsellors, and officials from the child protection department were also present.
Notably, six participating children expressed their willingness to enroll in SIHM Bolangir to pursue vocational education and build their careers.
