Bhubaneswar, Sept. 28 (UDN): A Class VI student went missing after reportedly being swept away by strong currents while taking a bath in the Rushikulya river at Sorada in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Monday morning.
The missing boy has been identified as Kism Nayak, a resident of Mathasahi in Sorada and a student of Adarsha Vidyalaya.
Boy Swept Away by Strong Current
According to preliminary information, Kism had gone to the river to take a bath at around 9 am when he reportedly slipped and was carried away by the strong current.
People present near the spot immediately began searching for the boy and informed the Fire Services personnel.
Rescue Operation Underway
A Fire Services team subsequently reached the site and launched a search operation with the assistance of a boat.
However, the rescue effort has been challenging due to the depth of the river and strong water flow.
Fire personnel, along with local residents, continued the search for the missing student. Efforts were underway to trace him as of the latest reports.
