Umarkot: On Friday, a special Parents’ Worship Day was celebrated at Dandakaranya Adarsha Vidyalaya, located in the Umarkot block of the Navrangpur district. The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including Maheshwar Chandra Nayak, the Additional District Collector of Navrangpur, Dr. Santosh Kumar Panda, the CDMO, and Ravi Sankar Sahu, the District Head of the Indian Education Development Institute, along with senior educators.

The principal of the school, Deepika Adhikari, welcomed the guests and initiated the ceremony. During the event, students performed rituals by applying Alta (red dye) and Chandan (sandalwood paste) to their parents as a symbol of respect and devotion. Many parents, intellectuals, and villagers attended the event.

The Additional District Collector, Maheshwar Chandra Nayak, praised the school for organizing such an event and encouraged the school authorities to continue with such activities. Other guests also appreciated the program and provided guidance to the students.

During the event, the school distributed 1,001 copies of the Bhagavad Gita. Nine security personnel were honored with appreciation certificates, and students from the 10th grade received the “Best Student” award. Additionally, two students, Manisha Gand and Sulagna Nayak, from the 5th grade were recognized for their participation in the state-level Bhagavad Gita recitation competition. Senior educator Tutu Babu Patnaik managed the event.

The school’s principal, Kartik, also contributed to the success of the ceremony.
