HK Desk 5th February 2025 On the occasion of Magha Saptami, lakhs of devotees took a holy dip in the sacred Chandrabhaga Tirtha Pushkarini Nimapada Puri Following the completion of rituals and the worship of the three deities, devotees performed the traditional holy bath. In anticipation of the large gathering, extensive arrangements were made by the administration.
Chandrabhaga Comes Alive on Magha Saptami
Today marks the auspicious Magha Saptami Tithi, a significant day when people visit Chandrabhaga to take a ritualistic dip. The banks of Chandrabhaga near the vibrant Arkakshetra Konark were bustling with devotees. It is widely believed that bathing here on this day grants relief from various ailments and brings mental peace.
According to belief, taking a holy dip in Chandrabhaga and offering prayers to the rising sun bestows the merit of many lifetimes. As per Puranic legends, Lord Krishna’s son, Shamba, who suffered from leprosy, was cured after bathing in Chandrabhaga and worshipping the rising sun. Following this deep-rooted faith and tradition, lakhs of devotees participated in the ritual bathing at Chandrabhaga today.
