Census 2027: Government Issues Strict Directive on Teacher Deployment to Ensure Smooth Enumeration Process

Bhubaneswar, May 12:: The government has issued a strong directive regarding the upcoming Census 2027, stating that all teachers will be deployed for census duties.
According to the instructions issued by the School and Mass Education Department, teachers from both government and private schools will be included in the census operation. Private school managements have also been instructed not to withhold their teaching staff from census duty.
Officials have directed that the census work must be completed by May 15, and any negligence in duty will be taken seriously by the government.
The directive follows complaints that some private school authorities were not releasing teachers for census work. In response, the department has made it clear that participation in the census is a mandatory responsibility under the Census Act, 1948, as it is a constitutional obligation.
Additional Secretary of the School and Mass Education Department, Durga Prasad Mohapatra, has issued the formal instructions in this regard.
District Education Officers (DEOs) have been directed to inform all School Management Committees about the rules and ensure full compliance across institutions.
The government has emphasized that cooperation from all educational institutions is essential for the successful completion of the census exercise.
