Umerkote: The district women’s wing of the BJP organized International Women’s Day celebrations at the BJP office in Umerkote, Nabarangpur district. Every year, March 8 is observed as International Women’s Day across the world.
The first Women’s Day was celebrated in 1908 in New York with the participation of over 150,000 women, and it was officially recognized at the international level in 1975.
At the BJP office in Umerkote, many distinguished senior women and BJP leaders attended the event. They spoke on topics such as women’s rights, dignity, empowerment, self-reliance, and the indispensable role of women in society. The event highlighted the importance of Women’s Day in strengthening women’s self-confidence.
After the program, several social workers and self-reliant women were felicitated and presented with awards and gifts in recognition of their contributions.
