Papadahandi, July 10 [UDN}: A grand joining programme at the Dabugaon Assembly constituency level was organized by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at Jambaguda in Nabarangpur district on Friday.
The event was presided over by district BJP president Kunjabihari Das. Odisha School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond attended the programme as the chief guest. Among the distinguished guests were MLA Gaurishankar Majhi, District Planning Board Chairman, District Special Development Council Vice-Chairman Lingaraj Bhatra, former MP Parshuram Majhi, State Tribal Morcha Secretary and MP’s representative Somnath Pujari, former district BJP presidents Ramesh Chandra Sahu and Gobinda Jain, Jagadish Bisoi, district vice-president and minister’s representative Harimohan Sharma, district Yuva Morcha president Bhajit Panigrahi, and several BJP leaders from different mandals of the district.
Thousands of party workers and supporters attended the programme.
During the joining ceremony, more than 700 workers and leaders, including former Zilla Parishad member and senior leader Narasingha Gouda, Shashimohan Sharma, Bhaskar Bisoi, Tiki Bisoi, Hiranya Gouda, Upendra Pradhan, Jagannath Sahu and Basu Disari, resigned from the Congress and BJD and joined the BJP.
The large-scale induction of leaders and workers from rival parties is being seen as a significant political development in the Dabugaon Assembly constituency and the Nabarangpur district.
