Malkangiri, May 28: A five-point memorandum was submitted by the Block unit of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) to the local Block Development Officer (BDO) at the Khairput Block office premises in Malkangiri district.
Today at around 11 AM, a delegation led by Khairput BJD President Sadhu Hantal submitted the complaint memorandum to BDO Mrs. Apita Mahanti regarding alleged administrative negligence and the neglect of elected public representatives in the present administration.
The major allegations mentioned in the memorandum were:
Panchayat representatives such as Sarpanches and Samiti Members are not being given importance in the Panchayat Samiti.
Many beneficiaries in different panchayats of the block are being deprived of old-age pensions, widow pensions, and disability pensions.
Projects proposed by Panchayat representatives are not being given importance in the Panchayat Samiti, while projects recommended by MLAs and MPs are being approved.
BJP and Congress leaders have allegedly turned the block office into their own political office.
Development works under the “Bikashita Gaon, Bikashita Odisha” scheme are allegedly being distributed by MLAs and MPs among their own party workers.
After submitting the memorandum, the party president stated that if the above demands are not resolved appropriately within the next 15 days, the party will launch a massive protest movement in the coming days.
BDO Mrs. Mahanti assured the delegation that the demands would be reviewed and necessary steps would be taken for an early resolution.
Among those present on the occasion were Khairput Zone Zilla Parishad Member Bali Majhi; Gobindpalli Sarpanch and Sarpanch Association President Srinibas Muduli; Baddural Sarpanch Bhikari Kirsani; Madkapadar Sarpanch Dampharu Sisa; Kudumulugumma Sarpanch Mangala; Parakanmala Samiti Member Ram Malli; senior party leader Chittaranjan Pattnaik; Kadamguda President Raghu Kirsani; and party members Binod Khara, Bikram Pangi, Nanda Gouda, Jagannath Gouda, Hrushikesh Behera, and Uturaj Parichha, among others.
