Bhubaneswar, April 08: The metro rail project in Bhubaneswar has been completely scrapped.
The state government has decided to fully discontinue the metro rail project.
The decision was taken as the project was not expected to be economically viable.
The state cabinet concluded that passenger demand would not meet expectations.
The agreement with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has been cancelled.
Earlier, Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Corporation had been appointed as the nodal agency for the project.
The state government stated that the decision was taken based on the recommendations of the Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC).
