18th March 2023, Kolkata: JIS Group organized a walkathon event to felicitate the frontline COVID warriors who have been working tirelessly throughout the pandemic. Bollywood star Rajkumar Rao graced the event with his presence for the promotion of his upcoming movie Bheed and walked alongside students, faculty, and staff members of JIS Group to support the cause. A health and fitness initiative was also part of the event. The walk was followed by a felicitation ceremony for the frontline COVID warriors.
Bollywood star Rajkumar Rao, known for his exceptional performances in movies like Newton, Citylights, and Trapped, attended the Walkathon event at the NIT-JISU campus, Agarpara, Kolkata. The event started early in the morning and participants covered a distance of 5 kilometers. At the end of the Walk for the Cause, there was a special session to acknowledge the Front Line COVID Warriors, whose untiring effort has set an example to help our society consistently fight this pandemic.
Rajkumar Rao felicitated the warriors and thanked them for their service to the nation. Shri Alok Rajoria, IPS, Commissionerate of Police, Barrackpore; Shilpa Goswami, nurse, Pallabi Bag, Nurse, Brigadier Vinod Kr. Patra, Eye Specialist Command Hospital, Eastern Command, Prof (Dr) Partha Pratim Pradhan, Principal College of Medicine & Sagore Dutta Hospital, Insp. Rajkumar Sarkar, IC, Khardah, Insp.Ratan Chakraborty, IC, Belgharia, Dr Writuparna Das, Cardiac Anesthesia, Critical Care and ECMO specialist, Mr Rup Kumar Basu, Social Worker from NGO, Sai Baba Madhyamgram and Mr. Asim Kumar Nanda, Head Master of Dumdum Shree Aurobindo Vidyamandir were felicitated during the event. The Anubhav Sinha directed movie “Bheed “revolves around the heart-wrenching incidents based on the tough time that people faced while going back to their hometown. Rajkummar Rao plays the lead role in the movie while the other casts include Bhumi Pednekar, Dia Mirza, Kritika Kamra, Ashutosh Rana, Pankaj Kapur and many others. The movie showcases an uncanny resemblance of the turbulent time that persisted during the partition of 1947 and compared it to the equally disturbing incidents that occurred during the first Covid-19 induced lockdown.
