BDO Takes Charge in Umerkote After 5-Month Gap

Nabarangpur: After a long wait and protests, Manoj Kumar Meher has joined as the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Umerkote. Previously, he served as the BDO of Redhakhol in Sambalpur district.

It is worth mentioning that Prithiranjan Rath, who was previously serving as BDO of Umerkote, was transferred on 24/10/2024. However, for the past five months, no permanent BDO was appointed. In the meantime, Lakshmi Sagar Majhi, the BDO of Raighar, was given additional charge.

Later, after taking medical leave, Dabugaon BDO Sarat Majhi was assigned additional responsibility. After returning from medical leave, Lakshmi Sagar Majhi resumed charge, and now, Manoj Kumar Meher has officially taken over as the permanent BDO.

The Umerkote Block Chairperson and local leaders had staged several protests and block shutdowns, demanding the appointment of a permanent BDO. Due to the lack of a permanent officer, several developmental projects were stalled.

Now, with the new BDO taking charge, it is expected that all pending works will resume smoothly.
