Bhubaneswar, Sept. 23 (UDN): A truck carrying bananas overturned on the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack National Highway near Jayadev Vihar late Tuesday night after reportedly colliding with a car ahead of it, disrupting traffic on one of the city’s busiest stretches.
The truck was transporting bananas from Andhra Pradesh to Jajpur when the accident occurred.
Driver Rescued By Police
According to preliminary information, the truck lost balance after the car in front allegedly braked suddenly, causing the heavy vehicle to overturn on the road.
Personnel from Nayapalli Police rushed to the spot and rescued the injured driver, who sustained injuries in the crash. His condition was not immediately known.
Traffic Restored After Clearance Drive
The overturned truck scattered bananas across the highway, slowing traffic for some time.
Police and PCR teams cleared the spilled cargo, while a crane was used to move the damaged truck to the roadside. Normal traffic movement was restored after the obstruction was removed.
The incident temporarily affected traffic flow on the busy corridor before authorities completed the clearance operation. Further investigation into the accident is underway.
