Awareness Drive Organised on Girls’ Safety and Cyber Fraud Prevention to Promote Security and Digital Awareness Among Students and Citizens

Koraput May 11: Awareness programmes focusing on the safety of adolescent girls and changing public perception towards the police were organised on Friday at various police stations across Koraput district.
Koraput Town Police organised an interactive awareness programme at the local conference hall under the supervision of Town Police Station IIC Satyananda Patra. Superintendent of Police Rohit Verma and Koraput Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sanjay Kumar Mandal attended the programme. Discussions were held with girl students and young women regarding personal safety and building trust in the police.
Under the Nandapur Police Subdivision, awareness campaigns were conducted in the areas of Nandapur, Padua, and Machkund police stations regarding digital safety and the harmful effects of excessive mobile phone usage. SDPO Devendra Mallik, IIC Trinath Totapadia, SI Bedabar Sahu, and Jyotimayee Sabar were present at the Nandapur event. Participants were advised to consider the police as friends and seek their help whenever necessary.
The programmes at Padua and Machkund police stations were conducted by IIC Ashok Kumar Bisoi and IIC Kulamani Buruda respectively.
At Sunabeda Police Station, a special awareness programme was organised for adolescent girls in the presence of Child Welfare Police Officers. Jeypore Sadar Police also highlighted various initiatives being undertaken for the safety and protection of girls in society.
Girls from Anta, Dayaguda, Deoguda, Station Konga, and Atmaguda police station areas participated in the programme. They were encouraged not to fear the police and to cooperate with law enforcement agencies. Flowers and pens were distributed among the participants.
IPS officer Ramshad Jebi, Inspector Sahidra Pradhan, and ASI Pankajini Sabar were present during the programme.
Similar programmes were organised by Laxmipur and Kakiriguma police stations. Laxmipur IIC Sujnani Sahu and Kakiriguma IIC Sulochana Pradhan conducted the awareness activities with support from A.J. Bhatra and Havildar Ghejua Khara.
Meanwhile, a cyber fraud awareness workshop was also organised under the Gumura police outpost area under the chairmanship of IIC Ashwini Kumar Pattanayak. Participants were informed about important helpline numbers, including Cyber Crime Helpline 1930, Child Helpline 1098, Women Helpline 181, Fire Service 101, and Ambulance Service 108.
SI Sarupa Mallik, Rabindra Kumar Rath, and SI Amaresh Nahan from the SDPO office attended the workshop.
People were also sensitised at the Koraput Town Police Station conference hall about public safety and awareness measures.
