Kolnara: In the Kolnara block headquarters area, the use of polythene has gone unchecked. Despite being banned, polythene is still being widely sold in shops and markets, impacting the local environment. Roadsides and various areas in the town are littered with heaps of polythene waste, prompting demands for administrative action.
Polythene is being brought into Kolnara from places like Rayagada and other regions. Shopkeepers are handing out items to customers in polythene bags. As a result, unlike earlier times, customers no longer carry their own bags to the market. After use, people throw polythene bags on the roadsides, leading to pollution.
The public is demanding that the administration take action and conduct awareness campaigns to curb the use of polythene.
