Bhubaneswar, Sept. 28 (UDN): Authorities in Odisha’s Bhadrak and Jajpur districts have ordered the temporary closure of 432 schools as flooding, waterlogging and restoration activities continue to affect several areas.
The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students, teachers and school staff in the affected regions.
91 Schools Closed in Jajpur
In Jajpur, classes have been suspended in 91 schools on Monday, September 28. The affected institutions include government, government-aided and private schools.
According to the district administration’s order, the remaining schools in Jajpur will continue to operate as usual.
The schools affected by the closure will, however, remain available for use in rescue, relief and rehabilitation operations if required, officials said.
341 Schools Shut Across Six Bhadrak Blocks
In neighbouring Bhadrak district, authorities have ordered the closure of 341 schools across six blocks in view of the flood situation.
The affected areas are:
Dhamnagar
Bhadrak
Bhandaripokhari
Tihidi
Basudevpur
Chandbali
The administration has advised students, parents and school employees in the affected areas to exercise caution and follow official instructions.
Reopening to Depend on Ground Situation
The temporary closures have been ordered amid continuing concerns over flooding and waterlogging in parts of the two districts.
Authorities are monitoring the situation and will take further decisions on reopening schools based on local conditions, including road accessibility, water levels and the overall safety of students and staff.
The administrations have urged residents to rely on official updates as restoration and relief operations continue in the affected areas.
