Malkangiri, Aug. 1 (UDN): Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Odisha School & Mass Education Department, Dr. N. Thirumala Naik, IAS, conducted a two-day visit to Malkangiri district to review the implementation of education and welfare programmes, while interacting with students, teachers and beneficiaries across several locations.

As part of the visit, Dr. Naik inspected educational institutions to assess the quality of teaching, infrastructure and the delivery of student welfare initiatives. He interacted with students and teachers to understand the challenges faced by schools and also joined students for the Mid-Day Meal, reviewing its quality and implementation firsthand.
The senior official also visited Rasabeda Gram Panchayat in Khairput block, where he inspected houses constructed under the PM-JANMAN Scheme. During the visit, he interacted with beneficiaries to assess the progress of the housing initiative and gather feedback on its implementation.
In Swabhiman Anchal under Chitrakonda block, Dr. Naik reviewed the delivery of major government welfare schemes by interacting with beneficiaries of the SUBHADRA Yojana, the Public Distribution System (PDS) and social security pension programmes. He enquired about the accessibility of benefits and the effectiveness of service delivery in the region.
The Commissioner-cum-Secretary also visited the Educational Complex at Badapada, where he held discussions with teachers and students on academic standards, classroom facilities and the overall learning environment. He reviewed the infrastructure available at the institution and stressed the importance of ensuring quality education and a supportive learning ecosystem for students in remote areas.
The visit formed part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the implementation of education and welfare programmes in aspirational and tribal districts through regular field-level monitoring and direct engagement with beneficiaries.
