Bhubaneswar, 8 July (UDN): Odisha Police is set to undertake a major recruitment drive to address a significant manpower shortage, with nearly 33,000 posts currently lying vacant across the department, Director General of Police (DGP) Y. B. Khurania said on Wednesday.
Highlighting the urgent need to strengthen the police force, the DGP said the Odisha Government has initiated measures to enhance manpower across the state. As part of this effort, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has approved the creation of 17,000 new posts in the police department.
The proposed recruitment drive is expected to fill both the existing vacancies and the newly sanctioned positions, significantly boosting the operational capacity of Odisha Police. The move is aimed at improving policing, strengthening law and order, and enhancing public safety across the state.
The DGP indicated that the recruitment process is likely to commence soon, with the department preparing to expedite appointments to ensure adequate staffing at various levels.
Further details regarding the recruitment schedule, eligibility criteria, and application process are expected to be announced by the Odisha Police and the State Government in due course.
