Umarkote, April 29: A legal awareness program on the new criminal laws was held at the Umarkote Bar Association premises, focusing on the provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023.
The program was organized under the guidance of Sunita Pattnaik, Additional District Judge and Chairperson of the Taluk Legal Services Committee, Umarkote. Judicial officers and legal practitioners actively participated, making the event highly significant.
The main objective of the camp was to sensitize advocates about key aspects of the new criminal law framework. JMFC Ipsita Bhoi elaborated on practical implications of new provisions related to FIR procedures, bail, summons and warrants, and the right to legal representation. She also urged advocates to keep their legal knowledge updated.
Bar Association President Arun Pattnaik, Vice-President Shankar Deo, Secretary Krishna Nanda, and other members were present. They welcomed such initiatives and reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing professional skills and strengthening legal awareness.
The session also included interactive discussions on topics like appeals, plea bargaining, and procedural safeguards.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks, highlighting the need for organizing more such sessions in the future.
