Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta Pledges to Donate Organs After Death on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Birthday

New Delhi: Sept 28 [UDN}:On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday on September 17, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta made a significant pledge to donate her organs after death.
Gupta launched Delhi’s online organ donation pledge portal under the month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ and became the first person to register on the newly launched platform. The initiative aims to encourage citizens to come forward and pledge their organs for donation. �

According to reports, Gupta’s pledge covers 14 organs and various tissues, including the heart, intestines, pancreas, liver, kidneys, lungs, bones and other tissues. The pledge is intended to help patients requiring life-saving transplants after the donor’s death. �

The Delhi government has also made the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (SOTTO) operational at G.B. Pant Hospital to strengthen coordination related to organ and tissue donation and transplantation in the national capital. Citizens can register their donation pledge online and receive a digital pledge certificate. �

The initiative is part of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, being observed from September 17 to October 17. The campaign includes blood donation drives, health camps and several public-service activities. A mega blood donation camp held in Delhi on September 17 collected 2,080 units of blood. �
