Bhubaneswar: The Meteorological Department has issued alerts for the next 5 days, predicting thunderstorms, lightning, strong winds, and heavy to very heavy rainfall in some areas.
A yellow warning has been issued for 12 districts for the next 24 hours due to the possibility of thunderstorms, lightning, wind, and heavy rain.
The districts are:
Keonjhar, Kendrapara, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Angul, Sonepur, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Gajapati, and Rayagada.
Additionally, 14 more districts have also been placed under yellow warning for thunderstorm, lightning, and wind.
During this period, wind speeds may reach 30 to 40 km/h in some areas.
On June 25, an orange warning has been issued for 3 districts — Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Balasore — due to the forecast of very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, thunderstorm, lightning, and wind.
Also, yellow warnings have been issued for 9 districts for thunderstorms, lightning, wind, and heavy rain, and for 7 districts due to thunderstorms, lightning, and wind.
