Malkangiri, 1st Aug 2025: An awareness workshop was organized at Chitrakond Government Degree College to promote women’s safety and dignity, in alignment with the Odisha Government’s initiatives in this regard.
The day-long workshop was held under the leadership of Principal Dr. Chinmaya Kumar Behera. The discussions focused on:
- Ensuring respectful behavior toward female students,
- Preventing misconduct and harassment, and
- Creating a safe and dignified learning environment free from sexual harassment.
- All faculty members, staff, and students took a pledge to contribute to a harassment-free academic atmosphere.
- The program also provided detailed information on:
- Government measures for women’s protection,
- The Shakti-Sri mobile app,
- The 181 women’s helpline, and
- Steps to take when facing potentially unsafe situations.
- Faculty members highlighted the importance of staying alert and utilizing available support systems.
Additionally, members of the college’s Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) were introduced, who explained their roles and responsibilities. They encouraged students to be aware and help raise awareness among peers.
This initiative emphasized community vigilance, legal literacy, and collective responsibility in ensuring women’s dignity and safety in educational spaces.
