Ibthermal Allegations have surfaced that workers are being denied duty for protesting exploitation by a contractor company in the MCL Lakhnaur area. In 2024, IVT contractor companies were assigned workers in this area, but reports claim they have been exploiting them. When the workers opposed the exploitation, the company reportedly stopped assigning them duties.
A written complaint in this regard was submitted to the MCL Lakhnaur Area Manager by Lakshman Oram, a worker from Kerua Bahal village employed under the IVT company. Oram stated that MCL had acquired all of his land and, in return, had given him employment as a railway track cleaner under different companies. As contracts change every two years, he continued working under various contractors.
However, during the months of March and April, he was not paid his salary. Though the supervisor promised payment, he allegedly did not receive any. In March 2025, when the previous year’s pending salary was not released, Oram refused to sign the LPC (Last Pay Certificate).
Following this, on March 9 of the current year, the company stopped assigning him any duties. In his complaint, Oram stated that although he used to earn Rs. 1,000 per day after a PF deduction of Rs. 14 per day in 2014, he is now being paid only Rs. 500 per day with unlawful PF deductions—allegedly violating employment norms.
As a displaced member of an MCL-affected family, he emphasized that unless he is provided fair wages, duty, and justice, he will be compelled to take up protest measures in the coming days. When asked about the issue, IVT company supervisor Dilip Kaligala said the matter would be looked into.
