Dubai, Feb, 26: The 10th edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will be held in June and July this year. The ICC has officially announced the group division and the full schedule of the tournament.
The tournament will begin on June 12 and conclude with the final on July 5.
The opening match will be played between hosts England and Sri Lanka. Traditional rivals India and Pakistan will face each other on June 14 at Edgbaston.
12 Teams to Participate
A total of 12 teams will participate in this edition of the World Cup. Bangladesh, Ireland, Scotland, and the Netherlands qualified as the final four teams for the tournament. The qualification tournament was held in Nepal last month. The Netherlands will be making their debut appearance in the Women’s T20 World Cup.
All teams have been divided into two groups of six each.
Group 1:
India
Pakistan
South Africa
Australia
Bangladesh
Netherlands
Group 2:
West Indies
England
New Zealand
Sri Lanka
Ireland
Scotland
As per the format, the top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals.
India’s Match Schedule
India will begin their campaign against Pakistan on June 14.
They will then face:
Netherlands on June 17 at Hove
South Africa on June 21 at Old Trafford
Bangladesh on June 25 at Old Trafford
Australia on June 28 at Lord’s
The tournament will run from June 12 to July 5, with the final scheduled for July 5.
